Beam has a unique fingerprint even after privacy protection.
Pouya Kary ✨
Hey beam team. So recently I've tried to measure the privacy protection of my browsers and I've tested: Safari, Firefox, Arc, Brave, Chrome, DuckDuckGo, Vivaldi, Aloha, Opera and Beam using coveryourtracks.eff.org.
Good news is that beam already is in a better place than the rest, but is still has a lot to be as good as Brave. Beam has a clear distinct fingerprint which to me is a place that is really important. (I've tired fingerprint.js and even without the pro mode I could identify the session as a unique hash)
You have to have fingerprint randomization. By messing with web canvas/web GL/web audio you should add hashing protection. Randomized resource info (like random number of available cpu cores, random memory size...)
And these are really important to have because Beam offers no way of adding extra security with extensions and more importantly this randomized resource info cannot be done by extension. So I personally need to use other things to have the security.
I'm writing this to you while my country is under a possible revolution and everyday the leaked data of someone becomes responsible for their arrest. You have already made such a great browser in terms of privacy and I really hope you go the extra mile and make it the number one, because Beam deserves it.
Love your work ❤️
All the best.
