Beam is changing single- and double-quote characters entered in form controls to their typographic equivalents, which can cause problems with field validation, passwords matching, etc. Two screenshots included here, showing the difference between Safari (correct; single-quote is vertical) and Beam (causing problems; single-quote has been changed to an apostrophe and shows as slanted and is shaped differently) on the same computer. Notice the very slight difference in the single-quote character between the two browsers. I’ve tested this in multiple browsers and regardless of the macOS preference setting for handling of “smart quotes”, no other browser changes these characters in this context.
